The fine restaurants of the Soller Valley are where Milena (from Poland) and Peter (from Hungary) met. Today they have their own fine restaurant in the heart of Fornalutx. Café Med is on the radar in those most beautiful of villages in Spain.
Milena, at the end of a four-year degree in Environmental Protection, arrived in Mallorca for a holiday. She experienced Deia and never went home. Working in fine restaurants and then the Hotel Residencia gave her the experience which has exploded into Café Med. Down the mountain to the Port of Soller’s finest and then her Fornalutx restaurant and family life.
Peter originally from Hungary, did all his Chefs training in Germany. The restaurants of the Port of Soller gave him room to expand his talents and the next stage was a restaurant of his own in Café Med in Fornalutx. Peter’s family in Hungary grew all their own vegetables and as a child he helped with the work, a little reluctantly. Now he is delighted that every vegetable and many fruits from his mountain allotment is served in the restaurant. The eight happy chickens lay eggs, which are collected by his children every day.
The Café Med menu is excited by vegetarian dishes and their celeriac cannelloni brings people from far and wide. Every week the menu changes to reflect what is ready from the garden. Superb meat and fish and always an interesting vegetarian alternative. Everything eaten in the restaurant is home made from the bread to the ice cream. Every glass of wine poured is from Mallorca.
